Sports Community Clean-Up Program

Columbus Recreation established the Sports Community Clean-Up Program to encourage groups who utilize our facilities to give back to their community. Adult and youth groups interested in renting field space from the department can participate in this program to earn credit towards their permit fees.

Groups receive $50 for organizing and participating in a clean-up at a park designated by Columbus Recreation and Parks. Groups can receive credit up to 50% of their permit fees with a $500 maximum value.

Process and Standards

  • Groups must have at least 10 participants on-site assisting the clean-up in order to receive the credit.
  • The group must participate in the clean-up for at least one hour.
  • Groups who are interested must indicate on their permit request form or contact Jake Diefenthaler in order to begin the process of scheduling the permit.
  • Groups may suggest which park they would like to clean up, but Columbus Recreation and Parks will make the final decision.
  • On the day of the clean-up, a supervisor will meet the group at the park in order to check in the group.
  • All trash must be disposed of in the dumpster or left by the trash cans at the park.
  • Groups are responsible for bringing their own supplies to clean up the park.
  • Groups can contact Keep Columbus Beautiful if they are in need of supplies.
