The Adaptive Outdoor Recreation Camp engages in weekly theme-based activities to strengthen social skills, promote leisure awareness, provide access and opportunity to connect with nature and build fine and gross motor coordination. With a staff-to-camper ratio of 1:3, campers can work in small groups to complete tasks that will build confidence and foster independence. Daily activities include field games, social-emotional learning, adventure recreation programming, conservation education, gardening, and arts and crafts. Accessible transportation is provided for field trips. Campers must be able to follow instructions and function independently and safely in small group and community settings. Therapeutic Recreation staff cannot provide 1:1 care for campers who require individual support for behaviors, elopement, medical, or personal care needs. 1:1 care providers who are coordinated by the caregiver are welcome to attend camp with campers. Contracted, qualified personal care support may be available on an as needed basis.
