Kasey Kaschak

Kasey Kaschak joined Columbus Recreation and Parks in March 2026. He comes to Columbus from the City of Alexander City, Alabama, where he served as director of Parks and Recreation.
Kasey brings more than a decade of experience in parks and recreation leadership. In Alexander City, he oversaw more than 200 acres of parkland, multiple recreation facilities and a $4 million annual budget. Earlier in his career, he served as recreation superintendent for Phenix City, Alabama, managing recreation centers, aquatic facilities and year-round programming for youth, adults and seniors. He began his career in special education, working as a teacher and department head at several schools, including Central High School and Smiths Station Freshman Center.
Throughout his career, Kasey has focused on expanding access to recreation, strengthening community partnerships and developing programs that increase participation and engagement.
His commitment to community service extends beyond his professional role. He previously served as president of the Opelika Happy Hour Rotary Club and coached the Alabama basketball team at the Special Olympics National Games. He has also held leadership roles with Auburn University’s College of Education student activities.
Kaschak holds both a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in special education from Auburn University. He holds numerous professional certifications, including Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) and Certified Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO).
