Big Walnut Trail-Winchester Pike to Nafzger Park

Welcome to Big Walnut Trail- Winchester Pike to Nafzger Park!

Columbus Recreation and Parks is beginning the process in spring 2024 to extend the Big Walnut Trail an additional 2.5 miles north to Nafzger Park from its current stopping point at Winchester Pike near S. Hamilton Road.

As part of the extension, the trail will pass through Helsel Park. The park is being reimagined in 2024 to address safety concerns and expand programming while increasing the tree canopy in the Eastland area. Learn more about this project.

In addition to extending the trail, neighborhood connections are being investigated for the Blacklick Estates, Edgewater Park and Eastland neighborhoods.
