Gender Road Park

Welcome to Gender Road Park!

Columbus Recreation and Parks Department is beginning the development of Gender Road Park in fall 2023, starting with the creation of a master plan for the park’s 32 acres. Acquired in 2010, the development of Gender Road Park, located at 4248 Gender Road, Canal Winchester, will complement existing amenities and programming at the adjacent Pickerington Ponds Metro Park while creating a new regional destination for people who live in South East Columbus and beyond. After master planning and design is complete, the park will be developed, which will include pickleball courts.

The development of Gender Road Park is possible through funding from the City of Columbus.

Gender Road Park is part of the Community Sports Park project, which makes significant investments in sports facilities across the City. The additional park and facilities investments that make up the project will provide Columbus residents access to a variety of recreational opportunities.

The current timeline is to open Gender Road Park to the public in spring 2025 when construction is complete.

 

Anticipated Project Schedule

  • November 2023 – Open house to gain public feedback
  • December 2023 – Open house to share preliminary concepts
  • Park renovation expected to be complete in spring 2025

Nov. 2, 2023

  • Public open house hosted at Gender Road Christian Church, located at 5336 Gender Road, Canal Winchester. Stop by the open house from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to share your ideas for Gender Road Park’s master plan development at a public open house. This will be a visioning and co-creation session. The City of Columbus is beginning the development of Gender Road Park in the fall of 2023, starting with the creation of a master plan for the park’s 32 acres. In addition to the master plan, the City is also working on construction for the park, which will include pickleball courts.

Nov. 17, 2023

  • Deadline to fill out the online survey about Gender Road Park. If you missed the Gender Road Park open house and visioning session, you can still share your ideas for the park’s development! Take our short online survey and tell us your suggestions. The survey is open through Nov. 17. Fill out the survey here.

Dec. 5, 2023
