Helsel Park Master Plan

Welcome to Helsel Park!

Columbus Recreation and Parks is beginning the redevelopment of Helsel Park in spring 2024, starting with the creation of a master plan for the park’s nearly 60 acres.

The re-imagining of Helsel Park will address safety concerns and expand programming, while increasing the tree canopy in the Eastland area. The park’s future programming and amenities may include creating play space for families and their pets, expanding natural spaces for exploration and education, removing a parking lot and developing an alternative transportation hub – a future trailhead for the Big Walnut Trail and Blueway. The park’s current athletic fields will be relocated to another nearby park.

Helsel Park is in a floodway, which will impact the master plan and conceptual design.
