Wedding Site Rules and Policies

Conditions of Use of the Organization’s Facility:

CANCELLATION POLICY

No refunds will be issued for cancellations or due to unfavorable weather conditions.  

Changes may not be considered with less than 15 calendar days prior to the event.  

If you have any questions or concerns about the rules, cancellation policy or require any additional information in regard to your rental, please contact Customer Service (614-645-3337) prior to your scheduled event (Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

**For the Columbus Park of Roses wedding site, rentals that are during the months of April-October will follow the shelterhouse cancellation policy. Rentals that are during November-March will follow the above cancellation policy.   

 

RULES AND CONDITIONS

* Permit holder and guests are subject to the regulations set forth in Chapter 919 of Columbus City Code. Permit holder and guests are also subject to Recreation and Parks Administrative Rules, in addition to the following conditions: 

  1. This permit is for the non-exclusive use of the above stated park/location for the permit and only for the date and time listed on this permit.
  2. Please be advised that the park is open to the public. All areas and park amenities are first-come, first-served and are not guaranteed with this permit.
  3. The park is rented in as-is condition. Due to the open nature of the park and unrestricted access, it is understood that the park’s condition will vary from day to day. Columbus Recreation and Parks will make a concerted effort to ensure the park is cleaned and trash is removed on the day of your rental, but this cannot be guaranteed.
  4. No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the park at any time. Smoking is not permitted in any Columbus Recreation and Parks’ facility.
  5. No vehicles may be driven or parked on the grass. All vehicles must be parked in designated parking areas. This includes vehicles driven by wedding guests, caterers and rental companies. Rental/delivery vehicles are not permitted to drive to the wedding sites at any location. Items and rental equipment must be carted or carried  to your designated location. Chairs and/or other equipment may not be placed on areas that could prove damaging to park property (i.e., flower beds). Do not park any vehicles in the grass or along park roadways (Columbus City Code, Chapter 919.23).
  6. If a tent is desired, you may utilize a tent, provided it is no larger than 10’x10’. The tent must be properly weighted with sandbags or similar devices. The tent must be set up and removed within your rental time.
  7. Aisle runners may not be used at any wedding site. If you or members of your group have special needs, please discuss these needs with our Customer Service staff to ensure that the facility and/or wedding site of your choice can accommodate you.
  8. Permit holder is responsible for removal and proper disposal of all decorations, supplies and event generated waste by the time the permit expires. All trash must be placed in designated trash receptacles. No trash may be left in the park. The park must be returned to pre-event conditions.
  9. No alterations may be made to any park amenity, nor shall any item be moved or removed. This includes flower beds, fountains, trash receptacles and picnic tables. No confetti, glitter or similar materials may be used for decorations or thrown in or around the rental site.
  10. Decorations may not be tied, stapled or taped to any natural feature in the park (includes trees, bushes, flowers, flower beds, etc.).
  11. No fireworks, sparklers, Japanese floating lanterns or similar items are permitted to be used in the park.
  12. No utilities are provided aside from the Columbus Park of Roses during the months of April-October.
  13. Music must be kept at a reasonable volume level at all times. City Code states that music should not disturb other guests in the park or adjacent areas.
  14. No admission, sales or other money may be collected or charged.
  15. Permit holder may not sublet the location for any reason.
  16. The permit holder is responsible for the group’s conduct and respect for the facility. All groups must abide by all of Columbus Recreation and Parks’ rules and regulations and Sections 919.01 through 919.99 of the Columbus City Code. It is the permit holder’s responsibility to supervise all guests, including children/minors. Any violation of park rules and regulations is grounds for permit forfeiture. Any groups who abuse park property will be asked to leave and charges for damages will be assessed. Any abuse of Recreation and Parks staff is also grounds for permit forfeiture. If any group or individual is asked to leave the premises, they must do so promptly and forgo any refund.
  17. Permit is granted on condition that if the facility is needed for Recreation and Park Department’s emergency usage, permit holder agrees to forgo use of the location with a full refund.
  18. The permit holder agrees that they will not discriminate against any participants because of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, age, handicap or veteran status.
  19. Department representatives and/or local law enforcement have the right to enter the premises at any time.
  20. The permit holder hereby agrees that the use of such Recreation and Parks Department facilities and equipment shall be upon conditions listed above and at the exclusive risk of the permit holder, his/her guests, agents and employees of the permit holder. The permit holder further agrees to indemnify and save harmless the City of Columbus from any and all claims, suits, loss, damage or injury to persons or property of any kind or nature whatsoever occurring to the permit holder, his/her guests, agents and employees as a result of the use of, or activity engaged in the park. Permit holder hereby agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Columbus if permit holder violates the rules and regulations or the law.

Frank Fetch Park

  • Rentals are only available from April-October on Saturdays only. No other days of the week may be used for a wedding. 
  • Wedding times should not exceed three hours, including setup and tear down, and must be between the hours of 1-8 p.m.  
  • Use of the park shall be limited to no more than fifty (50) persons in any permitted group.
  • Up to three (3) tents may be used, if necessary, and they shall not exceed 10’x10’ each. Tents must be the pop-up style tents, and they may not be set up in the gardens or in the grass, and each tent must remain on hard surface the entire time. 

Schiller Park

  • There are four sites to choose from: (A) Umbrella Girl Statue, (B) Northeast corner green space, (C) Schiller Statue, (D) Stage.
  • From April-October, only sites (A)(B)(C) are available and must conclude by 5 p.m. 
  • From November-March, all sites are available without the time restriction.
  • Site (C) is where the general public enters the park and cannot be impeded. Volunteers work on the gardens in front of the statue every Tuesday evening starting at 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8-11 a.m.

Goodale Park

  • Parking for the Goodale wedding site must be on-street parking to the east of the gazebo or in the park in the furthest east spots. There shall be no parking in front of the Goodale Park Shelterhouse. 

Whetstone Park

  • From April-October, the wedding site cannot be rented on its own, it is only available as an add-on to the rental of the shelterhouse.
  • Chairs inside of the shelterhouse are not to be removed from the facility and may not be used as additional seating for your outdoor wedding. If you need additional seating, it is your responsibility to contact a chair rental company and/or provide the seating yourself.

 

If any issues arise, please call our “Emergency Pager” at 614-631-4562, and leave a voicemail with your return phone number. Our emergency pager system does not include caller ID. All staff on duty will receive your message and return your call. If a situation escalates, do not hesitate to call Columbus Police at 614-645-4545.
