Downtown Connector Trail

The Downtown Connector Trail provides west-east connectivity to the Alum Creek Trail, serving as an important transportation and recreation resource. The Downtown Connector Trail is also designated as part of the Ohio to Erie Trail.

The Downtown Connector is an east-west route traveling between downtown and the Alum Creek Trail.  This trail parallels the I-670 freeway, beginning at Neil Ave. and terminating at Airport Drive. The Downtown Connector links the Scioto Trail to the Alum Creek Trail, providing an important east-west connection for pedestrians and cyclists to safely navigate the City, away from vehicular traffic. The Downtown Connector Trail is an example of reclaiming connection between communities previously divided by highway construction.

Downtown Connector Trail Closure

March 7 – Early June

The Department will resurface approximately 2 miles of the existing downtown connector trail’s asphalt pavement between the western limit at Cleveland Avenue and the eastern limit at Leonard Avenue/bridge over IR-670. This project includes milling and grinding of the existing asphalt trail, installation of new asphalt and curb ramp reconstruction at the intersection of Joyce Avenue. Landscape improvements, such as tree plantings and clearing and grubbing to improve trail and road traffic visibility, are also included.

Detour: A detour for bicyclists will be provided to direct them to use Leonard Avenue during trail closure.
