About

Overview

Acquired in 1961, Big Run Park is a 272.85-acre regional park in the Greater Hilltop community. The park is heavily wooded and features several streams and a pollinator habitat, which provides great wildlife viewing opportunities. Big Run Park is also home to Derby Hill, one of the few non-roadway derby hills in the country. When soap box derby events are not occurring, Derby Hill is open for pedestrians and bicyclists to enjoy. The Big Run Athletic Complex features four indoor basketball courts that can be rented here.

History

Big Run Park was acquired in 1961. Derby Hill, the dedicated track for soap box derby racing, opened in 1967.
