Welcome to Willow Creek Park!

Exciting updates are coming to Willow Creek Park!

A new master plan will guide improvements to Willow Creek Park and Preserve, creating more opportunities to play, gather, explore nature and enjoy the outdoors. New features include:

  • A new playground with separate play areas for children ages 2–5 and 5–12
  • A full-size basketball court
  • An open-air shelter
  • Open green space with picnic tables
  • An expanded natural area
  • A new entrance on the west side of the park
  • Benches and bike racks
  • New and improved pedestrian paths
  • Access to Big Run Creek
  • Dedicated parking areas on the east and west sides of the park

The park is expected to reopen in Fall 2028.

The redevelopment of Willow Creek Park is made possible through funding from the City of Columbus and federal grants.

Anticipated Project Schedule

  • November 2023: A public open house was held to gain public feedback
  • January 2024: A public open house was held to share preliminary design
  • Summer 2026: Construction began
  • Fall 2028: Park renovations are expected to be complete

Key Dates

Sept. 8, 2026

  • Demolition of the shelterhouse, playground and basketball court begins to prepare the site for future construction.

Jan. 25, 2024

  • Public open house hosted at the Franklin County Forensic Science Center, located at 2090 Frank Road, Columbus.
