Columbus Aquatics Center FAQ

Why have all the prices changed for swim lessons and other aquatics programs?

The prices for the 2023 season have changed based on the session length. Each session, with the exception of Fall II, is eight weeks, and the cost per day has remained the same or decreased in many cases.

What is the Indoor Season Pass and how does it work?

Anyone can purchase a 30-day or year-long season (365 days) pass to the Columbus Aquatics Center. This pass allows unlimited entry into the facility during open swim and lap swimming times. Classes and programs will still have fees and will be paid separately.

Why are the sessions different?

The Columbus Aquatics Center has moved to an eight-week session format to ensure consistency and to keep prices for programs stable for 2023.

When can I swim laps or come to the pool to swim for leisure?

Please refer to the Columbus Aquatics Center page or the paper handout at the center to see when you can come in to swim laps or to use the pool for recreation.

Why is there an indoor season pass and not an outdoor season pass?

The Columbus Aquatics Center experiences a lower volume of usage than outdoor pools. This ensures anyone can purchase a season pass and access the center. It is common for the outdoor pools to reach maximum capacity and turn away users.

Is there a discount for residents?

There is no longer a discount for residents. However, the PLAY Scholarship and senior discounts will be available to those who qualify.

Is there a discount for seniors?

Yes! Adults and seniors (50+) have a discounted season pass and will receive a $15 program discount automatically when they enroll in a pass or program.

Will I still be able to use a PLAY Scholarship on swim lessons?

Families eligible for PLAY Scholarships will continue to be able to use that scholarship on programs.

What happens if I cannot make a swim lesson or class?

Please let the Columbus Aquatics Center know as soon as possible. Makeup classes will be determined at the discretion of the aquatics staff. In general, we do not offer refunds or make-up classes for lesson absences.

Where can I find information on when the pool is available for lap and open swim?

Advance registration is not available for lap or open swim. Anyone with a 30-day or season pass will be able to check in at the desk with their leisure card. Day passes will be sold at the front desk for anyone who does not have a pass.

Do you take walk in’s?

Walk in’s are welcome during lap swim, open swim and water fitness (as space allows). Please allow additional time to check in and register at the front desk if you want to purchase a day pass.

Is the Columbus Aquatics Center open year round?

The Columbus Aquatics Center will be open 11 months out of the year. The center will close for approximately 30 days in late summer for annual maintenance. Summer hours will be limited to lap swim and programs only.

What if there is a holiday closure during my program session?

Your program will already be prorated to reflect the number of classes for each session. Each class has a designated rate and is specifically calculated each session to ensure equitable prices across programs.
