Burning Lake Park

Burning Lake Park is a 32-acre community park in the South East community adjacent to Pickerington Ponds Metro Park. (This park was previously known as Gender Road Park up until 2026.) This park, completed in 2026, provides a variety of recreational opportunities such as pickleball and basketball courts, disc golf, a children’s bicycle pump track and an adventure obstacle course for guests to enjoy along with the beautiful natural environment. This property was acquired in 2010 and is located in the South East community.

The name Burning Lake references the Burning Lake Area of Pickerington Ponds. According to Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, the name “…refers to an oral record of a fire that started when the marshes dried out sufficiently for underground peat to ignite. The fire smoldered for days and suffused the area with smoke.”
