Sports Officials
The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department employs over 200 private contractors as officials for our various adult and youth sports leagues. Our programs are expanding rapidly and demand for quality officials is at an all-time high. Adult Sports
Officials for our adult basketball, kickball, slow-pitch softball and volleyball leagues must join the Columbus Officials Association. Since 2012, all officials assigned to adult leagues by Columbus Recreation and Parks must be a member of the Columbus Officials Association (COA), offered through B.A.T.S. The COA provides each official with outstanding insurance protection in every sport.

Youth Sports
Officials play an important role in youth athletic programming. They make appreciable contributions to the growth and quality of sports to young athletes. The most effective officials are those who understand the importance of the rules and know-how to enforce them in a positive manner and with good communication to participants, coaches and parents.
