eSports Background
eSports is a rapidly growing sport where competitions are played through various video game platforms. It is an officially sanctioned high school sport, and there are varsity teams at the college and university level as well as professional gamers. There is a common misconception that video games are strictly sedentary and provide no value to development.
Our Program
The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department Youth eSports Program will strive to break misconceptions around eSports and provide participants with an experience currently not found anywhere else in Central Ohio. This program will have a classroom experience featuring STEM certified curriculum as well as a competitive eSports league with competition between Community Centers.
