Outdoor Recreation Summer Camps Spend the summer outside canoeing, creeking, fishing and building forts. Each week will have a unique theme structured around classic camp activities. Come enjoy camp outside!

Outdoor Recreation Summer Camps General Information

What to bring to camp: 

  • Mask
  • Water Bottle (Water is available onsite to refill)
  • Bag to keep belongings in
  • Sunscreen (must be able to self-apply)
  • Bug Spray (must be able to self-apply)
  • Snack 
  • Lunch 
    • Breakfast & Lunch are provided through the summer lunch program and available to all campers (excluding Discover Boating and Teen Outdoor Recreation Service Learning).   
  • Weather-appropriate clothing (hat, raincoat or jacket)
  • Change of clothes and shoes (we will get muddy throughout the week)
  • Closed-toed shoes
  • Towel

*Please label camper items with first and last name to ensure that all items are returned to their owner.

What not to bring to camp:

  • Items of value 
  • Electronics including cellphones, video games, etc.

* We are not responsible for any missing or stolen items. 

Curbside Drop-Off and Pick-Up

 (See camp locations for drop-off and pick-up times) 

  • We will continue to have curbside drop-off and pick-up for campers. Please drive up to the building, and staff will meet you at your car to sign-in your camper.
  • Photo ID is required every day at pick-up.
    • If you need to update the Authorized Pick-Up list please do so during drop-off.

Lunch/Snack: Outdoor Recreation Summer Camps provide lunch as a part of the Summer Food Program, Go Lunch! https://columbusrecparks.com/resources/food-office/ 

(Meals are not provided at Discover Boating and Teen Outdoor Recreation Service- Learning Programs)

Age Policy: There are no exceptions to our age policies. Your child must be the age that the camp location requires by the start of the session. 

Archery and Canoeing: Campers who are 8+ will have the opportunity to participate in archery and canoeing. These activities are weather dependent and may be canceled or rescheduled. 

Camper Groups: Campers are assigned to groups based on age. Camp is a great place to meet new friends!

Waiting List: If a spot becomes available and you are next on the waiting list, you will be notified by phone. You will be given 72 hours to respond before your spot is offered to the next person on the list. Make sure you have a current phone number linked to your Active Net account to receive notification.

Camp Groups: Camp groups are divided based on age to accommodate for activity needs based on age. Camp is a great place to make new friends.

Refund Policy


Refund Policy: 

Refund requests must be emailed to outdooreducation@columbus.gov at least 10 business days prior to camp session (include camper’s name, camp name, session number, current address and reason for cancellation) before the refund can be processed.

  • Requests received 6-10 business days prior to camp session will receive a 50% refund.
  • Requests received 5 business days or less prior to camp session will not receive a refund. 
  • Refunds take 6-8 weeks to process. 
  • A $15 processing fee will be assessed for each refund request.
